students/youth associations

10 Nov

Looks like I haven’t been writing for quite some time.

I started this blog to update on what I’ve doing in the development of students association, mainly Malaysian Students’ Association in Japan MSAJ, because the development of the other youth association is actually out of my reach.

A few more months to go and I think I have to pass on responsibilities to the younger generation, as I won’t be in the “student” category no more. I do wish I can do more, as I don’t really feel much of achieving the plans that I’d laid out since I took the responsibilities. There are many reasons to the slow actions but they will just sound as excuses.

Until the day I have to leave, I’ll write on further on student associations, with the hope others will have awareness in students/youth associations.

Web System Crew

19 Sep

WSC Kanto had a meeting today and discussed on what’s next for WSC.  Make sure and stay tune!

WSC is one great  example of Bureau created.  Why great example? It really shows how a Bureau should be;  a platform for everyone to get involved for some cause.

It started last year when Crew Members from every Divisions actually gathered and work out the current homepage. Not everyone was (and still is) majoring in computer science or even have the knowledge in creating homepage (although all of us are Engineering students). But we did figured out the solutions for problems there are.

Yet, sustainability is a big issue. Indeed more people should be included and trained and even share ideas and solutions.

NOTE: WSC is recruiting people who are interested in web designing and creation to work with us. Drop your name, email address and university/college to websystemcrew@msaj.net

Development of Bureaus

12 Aug

It has been 8 months since the new term started and yet the progress is slow. I would say lack of leadership, personally couldn’t lead group of leaders. Hopefully I still can correct what is wrong by the end of term.

Also I had announced the few targets for MSAJ Kanto. I’ve already had this in mind for a long time, but I guess making thoughts into action is a big step and every journey starts with a small first step.

Participation is one main issue. It is necessary to remove MSAJ=EXCOs way of thinking in the association. At the same time, I do realize that EXCOs should be a higher position, but yet again, EXCOs are meant to lead and not just stay and do all those small things. I guess I need to think of ways to reward participants and also EXCOs.

Anyway, I’m listing the targets for MSAJ Kanto, which I’ll edit from time to time when needed.

san-kan-gaku

27 May

San-kan-gaku renkei (産官学連携), or what we call in English, “the collaboration among industries (companies), governmental and the academics”.  Let me cut short and use the initials, SKG.

It is something what I’ve leant in University and it’s the thing that I always have in mind for MSAJ. And I guess that’s the main reason I’ve stayed on. MSAJ IS a good platform for san-kan-gaku.

I was and (I don’t why) I am still involved in AYNJ, the network MSAJ is involved in.  SKG can happen in the bigger picture (in AYNJ). It will be indeed GREAT, but yet I had to think twice. Mainly because I have my limits and it is much better to make this work in one organization, maybe later on to a bigger influence. Minor reasons, nope, I prefer to keep it low first. But yeah, I think MSAJ should take the lead to fix things. More on AYNJ other time.

So why SKG?

Being stuck between the academic world and working world, I feel that there is a HUGE gap between those worlds. Of course, these two worlds exist for their reasons, students would want to stay “students” and there are so much more responsibilities in the working world. BUT in between, I think someone should fill in the gap.  A better preparation before crossing over these worlds.

Why MSAJ?

Because it’s in the middle of both Industrial and Governmental. Not every Industrial will mix with Governmental, and same for the other way round. So, I guess MSAJ being the middleman to connect both and at the same time be involved in society.

I guess it’s a long way to go, but anyway, I’ll just do what I can do. Who knows, after this it will be 180 degrees totally different thing.

21 May

I’ve drafted out the next things to come, mainly on the development of Bureaus.

Mainly on a few projects, the combination of old stuff and new.

I should share them with everyone.

Please give me some time to reconfirm.

Yes.  Time is limited.

rising the SUN X manifesto

20 May

I started the  Project Rising the SUN mid last year. Looks like not much progress. I wish I could do more but I guess there are limitations.

Plus, again and again, I reminded myself about the manifesto I wrote for the Presidency:

1. Management & Structure: Human Resources (HR) Development
2. System: Aligning rules and regulations
3. Budget : Setting the resources
4. Networking: Increasing sustainable co-operations
5. Participation: Uniting the lost ones
6. Services: To society we serve

Time is indeed limited. And power too.  But I should go on.

I’m ready with the plans. Just need to put them into actions.

rising the sun – re-rising?

20 May

Here I am starting a new blog.

Main reason?

To pen in some ideas and keeping update on what I’m doing/trying to do with students’ associations. Some might ask why I’m so into these associations, but I do not have the right answer myself. Just doing something what I have in mind and hear, though sometimes I do need to rethink back on what I’m doing, putting priorities above priorities.

This will all only about students’ associations, hopefully can connect to the main homepage.

Re-rising the SUN 2010…
